We provide many opportunities to get kids involved in learning about the tool & die industry with hands on experiences right here in our shop!
Enterprise Tool and Die partners with local communities and schools to help educate young students on the different aspects of tool and die, as well as the different schooling and career paths that are available to them. During the bus tours, approximately 30-40 students from local schools tour our facility and learn about the importance of each position within the company.
Every October on National Manufacturing Day, Enterprise Tool and Die as well as more than 1,600 American manufacturers open their doors and take up the important task of inspiring our young people to pursue careers in manufacturing and engineering. Enterprise typically welcomes several groups of middle school and high school students, in which we provide interactive stations throughout each department that are led by members of our team. This enables students to explore the different career paths available in the Engineering, Machinging and Tool and Die trade. Students and chaperones are usually split into multiple groups and are escorted to each station where they will spend 10-15 minutes. Enterprise leaves its doors open all day, and welcomes anyone who is interested in exploring and learning about our trade to schedule a visit.
During MiCareerQuest, middle school and high school students rotate through exhibits highlighting five high-demand industries: Advanced Manufacturing, Agri Business, Construction, Health Sciences and Information Technology. Students engage with professionals from each of these industries, as well as participate in activities that showcase various high-growth occupations, opening their eyes to opportunities for great careers in West Michigan. Enterprise Tool & Die takes great passion in educating students on the importance of "Engineering, Machining and Tool & Die" at this event each year.
Enterprise Tool and Die participates In job shadowing to give middle school and high school students the opportunity to shadow several different roles within the company. Students are given a tour and overview of the company and spend time one on one learning the position they are most interested in. We also share information regarding educational and safety requirements of working in a manufacturing enviroment. This opportunity enables first-hand experience which we believe makes the biggest impact! Students will benefit from engaging with multiple role models who are prepared to explain their roles and responsibilities within the company. Students and staff engage in a brief discussion of different departmental functions, job titles, educational preparation, pay ranges and relationships between suppliers and customers as applicable.
